The mechanisms of gender transition
involves profound mental, social,
emotional, economic, and legal changes in
a patient’s life. MB is a 49-year-old FTM
transsexual male who has been living as a
normal and healthy male until he started
feeling menopausal symptoms during his
late 40s. The midlife crisis bewildered
MB because he has not considered
himself a woman after his transsexual
surgery. The sudden relapse into
womanhood disrupted his lifestyle and he
also faces emotional backlash. MB was
hesitant to receive HRT due to the results
of the 2002 WHI study. Therefore, MB
elected to receive an bio-identical
hormone implants to help stabilize his
menopausal symptoms without the
potential risks. After a year of treatment,
MB has claimed that testosterone
implants have transformed his life. |
